Who Writes This Site

My name is Adam Bell. I've been playing disc golf since 2003, joined my local club in 2007, and became a PDGA member in 2008. Over two decades of playing courses across the Northeast, I've gone through more bags, discs, and gear upgrades than I care to count - which means I've also made plenty of mistakes that cost me money on gear that didn't hold up.

I built DiscGolfGear.com because the gear advice I kept finding online fell into two camps: either vague roundups clearly written by people who'd never thrown a disc past hole 3, or forum threads where the answer to every question was "it depends" and "just try a bunch of stuff." Neither is helpful when you're trying to decide whether a $130 bag is worth it or which starter disc to hand a friend who's never played.

Every guide on this site reflects my actual experience on the course, combined with careful analysis of what long-term owners report after extended use. When I haven't personally owned a specific product, I say so - and I explain what the research tells me instead of pretending otherwise.

How We Review Gear

For gear I've personally used, the write-ups reflect real on-course experience - specific strengths and failure points I've encountered over actual rounds, not just spec sheets. For products I haven't carried myself, I dig into manufacturer specs, build materials, and capacity numbers, then cross-reference those against patterns in long-term owner reviews from players who've put the gear through hilly courses, rain, and full 18-hole rounds.

I also track pricing over time, because a bag that's a great deal at $60 is a different calculation at $90. Picks are updated when better options appear or when pricing shifts enough to change the recommendation.
